5 lessons learned as a new dad
.
1. My son is concealing 2 loaded weapons in his diaper. I have been hit by both
2. Sleep, eat, burp, change (beware of #1), eat, burp, sleep…repeat as necessary.
3. Changing diapers is all about the speed at which you can take the clothes off, then diaper, wipe, clean, new diaper, then clothes. I believe, as a man, I am not able to accomplish this as it takes me 2-3 minutes to change him and my wife only 30 seconds. Hence the reason for #1. Jaden will also let me know that I am slow and that he is cold.
4. He will not break. I was told in the hospital that barely patting him on the back will not release the gas. I felt like I was holding porcelain doll and if I patted him any harder he would some how break in half…this is not the case.
5. I find that even though I will wake up twice in the night, that I am unaffected by this. Yes I am tired, but it is SO WORTH IT. The moment I met Jaden in the delivery room, my outlook on life forever changed. I now understand the lengths that parents will go to for their children.
